Kurbaan

“Terrorism” a hot topic which can easily burn anyone if not handled carefully is once again brought into plot in Bollywood with Kurbaan. With terror groups putting years of planning to come with most unthinkable ways of spreading terror we never know who can be what. The first half of the movie is simply superb. The love story between two professors in Delhi university Avantika (Kareena Kapoor) and Ehsaan Khan (Saif Ali Khan) is shot is an elite way with eyes and emotions doing most of the talking. The onscreen chemistry is simply superb and shots without background score added spice to the scenes. The story moves in a fast pace and just half an hour since the start of the movie the couples get married and moves to US. Then comes the next set of characters, a creepy neighborhood all set to raise your heartbeats. In a well groomed scene Avantika figures out that her husband is a terrorist and there after she is put under house arrest.

All well till now, but now comes the second half when I felt the movie was very similar to “New York” in many ways which was a set back. Not just that the characters does not showcase the same level of intelligence through out the movie which make the audience feel, “ A terror group cannot be this stupid”. More over FBI is underestimated through out the movie. In one of the scene Saif kills a group of police men after a chase and escapes with a bullet shot leaving his vehicle burning and FBI is still clue less. Setting a terror plot in US cannot be this easy. In another scene FBI finds a dead body with a half burnt face and the officer says it is going to take 4 days for him to regenerate the burnt part and produce a graphic image of the victim. Come on this is the 21st century and even a beginner in photoshop can make the complete face in 10 mins.

In the end, Kurbaan has lots of loop holes which could have been patched with a little tweaking and some how the quality of the movie is not steady through out. I would recommend this movie for people who have not watched “New york” as for others the second half does not give much surprises.

The song Shukran Allah is a treat. Click below to get a perk of it:

N73 Music edition

Six months back when my Sony Ericsson W700i accidentally went inside a drain, I thought the worst has happened. That was just the beginning of my hard luck. I didn’t think much before going for N73 because of the brand “Nokia” and moreover it was more than a year since the phone was released, so enough time for all the great developers to fix the bugs.

After paying 13K I was very happy with the list of features which my N73 boast about till the minute I switched it ON. The time for the phone to boot up was like that of an old Windows 98 PC. Even when the phone was brand new the applications were very slow. When my friends complained on the speed of my phone, I still tried to convince my self that I made a good choice. Every second day I had to reboot my phone as my phone was acting like a snail. Very soon it started giving memory full errors and to my amazement when I look at the details not even 10% of the memory was used. Six months down the line I no more have the phone with me. Hospitalized in a Nokia “ CARE” center because of the following problems:

- Does not vibrate even in Silent mode.
- None of the applications work because of memory errors.
- Cannot receive even a single SMS as my phone says to clear memory which was already empty.
- Call history is not available.
- Battery life died down.

The minute I submitted my phone at Nokia care they put a seal “ Express Service” and asked me to wait for 20 mins. I was very impressed as I never expected such quick service. After half an hour when I asked for the phone, the response was to wait for 20 more minutes. Now it is four days since I have give the phone for service, the latest news is my phone has a hardware issue which will take 10 days to resolve. Still waiting for the phone to become fully operational. N73 is good on papers but its memory errors are a pain in the wrong place.

Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani

What a weird long name !! Now let me get to the point, I loved this movie. I know it is already late for a review as the movie was released two weeks back, anyways who cares it’s my blog so no hard strict rules. Nothing new with the story Prem ( Ranbir ) is in love with Jenny (Katrina) who is in turn love with a rich boy. Our hero is so sweet that he will do anything for Jenny even to the extend of getting Jenny to her love. The movie starts with a few jokes which really don’t get you laughing but slowly it get the phase of a sweet comic love story! It is like watching a cartoon you won’t find any thing realistic it is just a time pass with good sequences to laugh for. I love cartoons and so I loved this movie. And the second best think I liked where the songs, especially the song “Tu Jaane Na ” by Atif. Click on the below link if you want to hear the song:

BLUE !!

Just watched the movie Blue..and I was happy because I didn't happen to pay for the ticket. If movies are all about glamour, style and spending crores then Blue would have certainly become number one. But what the movie doesn’t have is a good story or a good script! There are no emotions between character’s and as a whole I feel pity for the producer who had sunk 1 billion on a movie like this. Yes, it does has some awesome under sea shots but if it is just about that then it is better to watch the National Geographic !

Story in short revolves around a ship which was carrying loads of valuable things which got drowned in 1947. Apparently Sanjay Dutt is the only soul who knows about the actual spot of the treasure and Akshay kumar is the desperate dude who wants to get his hands on them. Sanjay don't want to have the treasure even though he was poor but Akshay wanted it even though he is very rich. Then come the loads of scenes with most of it not having any relevance to the original story. One song to show the curves of Lara Dutta and other one to show the curves of some white skinned lady. The gorgeous Katrina Kaif looks awful with a glowing stud just under her lower lip, Bhaaaaa !! I wonder whose idea was that.

The climax, when the actual treasure hunt happens is a mix of logic less scenes. Sanjay Dutt stops the boat in middle of the sea and says " Guys this is the spot " . I wonder how he was so accurate especially when the only time he saw the wrecked ship was when he was a kid. And then the story of how Akshay goes under the water with a bike and uses the air from the tyres to survive a storm and then swims across the ocean to survive is something even my 6 year old niece couldn’t digest!!

The movie does have some good action both under water and land. Efforts for the shots are well appreciated but the movie is just CRAP ! In the last short Aksay says this is not going to end here, I hope he isn’t hinting a second part for this!!

So guys if your pockets are full and have two hours to do nothing about please watch the movie!!
